Free Pattern: Crag Day Cowl

CRAG DAY COWL PATTERN

This simple yet classy broken rib patterned cowl is a quick and cozy knit you can whip up in a few episodes of your current favorite show.  (We're watching season 6 of British Baking Show at the moment) 

 SKILL LEVEL: Easy

YARN:

Super bulky yarn (weight 6), such as:

SUPPLIES:          

US15/10mm 16” circular knitting needles

Tapestry needle

Stitch Marker (can use a ring, or a loop of yarn)

Scissors

 GAUGE: 4x4”/10x10cm = 9 stitches x 16 rows in stockinette

 SIZE: Finished cowl will measure approximately 9”/23cm H and 8”/20cm W

 ABBREVIATIONS:

K:

P:

Stitch

Knit stitch                                      

Purl stitch

 

PATTERN

Using long-tail cast on method, cast on 42 stitches using US15/10mm needles, place stitch marker, and join in the round. Be careful not to twist stitches.  

Row 1:(and all odd rows): *K1, P1. Repeat from * around for the whole row

Row 2:(and all even rows) Knit all stitches

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until cowl measures 8in” from bottom

CAST OFF ALL STITCHES

Cut yarn, leave an 8”/20cm tail. Using your needle, weave in the ends.
